a day in the life of the rikers island bridge
This video shows a representation of the activity over the Rikers Island Bridge in the course of 24 hours accompanied by interviews with members of the Fortune Society. It highlights the flows of people in and out of Rikers and visualizes its influence on the residents of New York City directly and indirectly.
The video was created as part of the States of Incarceration exhibition at the Sheila Johnson Design Center. The exhibit aims to make visible aspects of Rikers we don't see on the news. Audio interviews were edited by Laura Sanchez and Estefania Acosta.
