knickerbocker avenue merchants

This project uses interviews, field observations and Google street view images to track the tenure of businesses on the rapidly changing Knickerbocker Avenue in Bushwick. While the changes in residential populations and rent prices are known to have changed drastically in the neighborhood in the last ten years, little research has been done on the impact of gentrification on commercial businesses. These maps show the turnover and vacancies within six blocks since 2007.
